WispFX is an AI alpha matte plugin for After Effects and DaVinci Resolve. One click pulls soft alpha for hair, fur, glass, liquid and fabric, on your own NVIDIA GPU.
WispFX is a Windows plugin for Adobe After Effects (2024 or later) and DaVinci Resolve that creates AI alpha mattes from ordinary footage. The model predicts how much of each pixel belongs to the subject, so hair, fur, smoke, glass and liquid keep their soft edges. It runs on your own NVIDIA GPU. No green screen and no roto are needed.
The hardest shots we could find, each matted by WispFX and dropped into a new, light-matched world. Drag the wipe, swap the background, push the edge.
Your browser blocked WebGL, so the lab can't run here. Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari all support it.
Busy shot? Click the subject you want on one frame. Only that one is matted, and it's tracked through the whole clip.
Pick any footage layer and hit Use Layer in the panel. No export, no round trip.
Your GPU predicts the alpha. Click a subject first if the shot is busy.
Choke, feather and edge update instantly. The matte lands back in your comp as a normal layer.
Tested on an RTX 4090. Other cards are estimates from their video memory.

Over USD 10 million in revenue? WispFX runs Lightricks' LTX-2.5 model, which you download separately under the LTX-2.x Community License. If your organisation, together with its affiliates, has annual revenue of USD 10 million or more, Lightricks requires you to hold a paid commercial licence from them before using the model in production. A WispFX licence, including Studio, does not include it. Contact Lightricks at [email protected] or ltx.io/model/license. You can evaluate WispFX without that licence in a non-production environment.
Yes. Every shot is an untouched WispFX matte from the Quality preset. The backgrounds are generated and colour matched to each shot, the way you would in a real comp.
No. Matting runs on your own GPU. The only download is the one-time model install.
No. It works on ordinary footage. If you did shoot on green, the spill comes off the edges too.
Object Matte is built into After Effects, so you can try both on the same shot. WispFX is a separate plugin. It predicts a soft alpha for hair, fur, glass, liquid and motion blur, runs on your own NVIDIA GPU, and works in After Effects and DaVinci Resolve.
Yes. It is tested on DaVinci Resolve Studio 21; the free edition isn't tested yet. Drop the WispFX Matte effect on a clip and press Pull Matte. The clip gets a real alpha channel, with Shrink, Feather and Invert live in the Inspector.
A normal footage layer with a clean alpha channel. Use it as a track matte, grade it, or composite it like any other layer.
Long shots are processed in overlapping passes and blended back together. The matte is then lifted to your plate's full resolution using edge detail from the plate.
Yes. The trial download has every feature and puts a watermark on renders, so you can check your own shots and your GPU before you buy.
Yes, a free one. You accept the Lightricks licence on Hugging Face, log in once, and the panel downloads the models for you. The first download is about 33 to 43 GB, depending on your card. It includes Lightricks' 15.4 GB text encoder, which setup uses once and then deletes. 24 GB cards and Max use Lightricks' official int8 weights (21.5 GB) from their own repository. A smaller first download is planned if Lightricks allows us to ship the prepared file.
In the user guide. The support page covers common setup errors and how to reach us.
Yes, on Studio seats. Companies with USD 10 million or more in annual revenue also need a commercial licence from Lightricks, the model's maker.
